Why should we BELIEVE Arianna and NOT John McCain. Surely out of his own mouth John McCain's words are his words. Come on, this is an Election year and the game of POLITICS is in full force and Arianna is a big game player.

Besides, I look at this as Arianna doing John McCain a huge favor in that this goes a long way in distancing John McCain from President Bush. Obviously if John McCain did not even vote for George W. Bush then there is no way their politics can be the same. All the remarks that "they" are saying to imply that "if John McCain wins the presidency it will be George W. Bush's third term in office" can just go away now - thankfully.

Thanks, Arianna, you helped me make up my mind - I'M VOTING FOR JOHN McCAIN IN NOVEMBER!!! (Sorry Sen. Obama but blame ARIANNA).

The straight talker could just say--Hey-- it was a heated primary battle and I didn't vote for him when I went into the election booth although I worked my heart out for his re-election.
That would make me and a lot of people have a lot of respect for him.

You're right, rjean. Carter wasn't nearly corrupt, deranged, and incompetent enough to be a truly great president.

Given Bush's approval ratings, how does this hurt McCain?

It's funny to see McCain protesting loudly that he voted for Bush. In other words, he's saying that he he helped enable the 8 years of the worst presidency in the history of the world.

While he tries to distance himself from Bush, he now has to suck up to him at the same time. Wow.

The last two weeks of October are going to look like 1996. McCain will be campaigning like Bob Dole, scorned and pathetic, the sacrificial lamb sent up by the GOP who have known for months that they don't have a prayer in the November elections.

McCain said he voted for Bush, he even had George spend some time in his Sedona home after the election. Whoever think maCain didn't vote for bush is not listening. McCain can disagree with certain Bush policies, I know the lemmings in the DNC will never stray from the action line but this is a clear indication why many consider McCain the moderate Democrat he is. BHo will never come close to the impact Bubba had during his campain against Dole. Bill had stances, carisma not seen since Regan, and a much more involved staff. Carter and Hoover are tied for the worst presidents. Carter hold the honor of supreme worst ex-president with his enless meddling in a country which has passed his lame inflation ridden policies by.

Jimmy Carter is the best Christian out of the bunch. Now he's "the worst president in HISTORY". What does that say about other Christians?

You're so right. Someone should make an ad of McCain emphatically saying "I voted for him, I campaigned for him and I supported George Bush in 2000 and 2004".

That would aptly demonstrate that McCain has no integrity, no balls and no honor. He sold them all for a chance to play Caesar. How utterly pathetic.

Strange how Arianna is clinging to this as her big journalistic scoop, trying to establish bona fides maybe? Maybe she's feeling tawdry and cheap being Mary to all the Hufftard lambs.
It's a silly issue though apropos.

Yeah you trolls must HATE it that Arianna has shown your stooge for exactly who and what he is. I can see why you're all so furious and wish this would all just go away.

You've gotten so used to gobbling down lies from your team leaders, the taste of truth as totally repugnant to you. But I have to hand it to you backwash 30%ers, you never quit even when you are 100% wrong.

Yeah McCain really worked hard for Bush in '00...was that before or after he pulled the knife out of his back that GWB put there. Or was it a golf club?

Heavens, who cares! How long will HuffPo play this inanity with arianne denouncing McCain for what he told her/told her not around a salad bar in 2003? No one has anyway the faintest expectation of integrity in politics from HuffPo - so get real, your liberal goof out there is in big troubles, Hillary put him in defensive and McCain looks more and more like the winner in November and you keep cranking Arianna's crap for weeks. Dump the story and try to help Glibama.

I just love the idea of a group of people telling an inconvenient truth being such a "controversy."

Well played Arianna. The MSM is indeed a fertile medium.

After all the horrid, unethical tricks Team Bush/Rove pulled on Sen McCain in the 2000 primary in SC it would be hard to believe that McCain could've ever pulled the voting machine lever for bush. Why deny it now? Heck, McCain should wear it as a badge of honour.

Because McCain wants the "wealth" of resources of the GOP come November. What a Benedict Arnold.
You can see him lie through his teeth as he says "it's nonsense"..

McCain is playing this so poorly. Assuming Huffington, Schiff, and Bradford are telling the truth, a pretty fair assumption, why is he denying saying that. He should have said, " I was at a party with a lot of liberals, so I told them that just to be polite." The irony of course is that it's the only half way intelligent thing the man has ever uttered.

"why is he denying saying that"

Because his supporters are stupid enough to believe he never lies, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary...

His supporters should be drafted and sent immediately to Iraq. Traitors all of them! Mark my words, if he is elected this country is gone!
