Tata open to selling the Nano in any promising market

Tata Nano is all set to arrive later this year and would become one of the cheapest cars in the world.

The company has now said that they would consider exporting the car for sale in any market that appears promising to them.

A Tata representative said: “There is nothing that we cannot export Nano to any country. Tata Motors also has plans for exports. But the Tata Nano will be initially marketed in India.”

This statement comes after Conde Nast Portfolio said in a report that Tata Nano would not be offered in the US market.

Tata added: “The Company has not yet finalized specific exports markets and timelines. The Nano will meet the prevalent norms of any country it is marketed in.”

It would take some years before Tata could think about exporting the Nano to other markets. The local demand would be a huge challenge for the company to meet.

The Tata Nano seen at the Detroit Autoshow had airbags and well defined interiors. Is that the one that is going to be exported or is the one that we will get?
