A series of cultural events entitled "Meet in Beijing 2008-Culture Events" kicked off in Beijing on May 12.
The events, organized by the Ministry of Culture, will be the largest in scale and will last for a longest time in accordance with celebrating the Beijing Olympic Games.
From May to September, nearly 10,000 artists from some 80 countries and regions will gather in Beijing to present more than 100 performances.
It is estimated that over two million audiences will enjoy these performances.
It is learned that an extensive range of famous programs will be staged, such as the concerts of Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the concerts of BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Irish dancing "River Dance" and performances from Russian Festival Ballet etc..
