Olmert Meeting with Suleiman; Hamas Threatens

(IsraelNN.com) Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is meeting with Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman at this moment on a possible ceasefire while demonstrators are demanding the government stand by its promise to bring about the release of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. Hamas terrorists, with participation of members of other gangs, abducted him in June, 2006 in a cross-border raid at a Gaza crossing, where the terrorists also killed two other soldiers. Egypt has been mediating in truce talks between Hamas and Israel although the Olmert administration officially does not recognize Hamas.

The terrorist organization held a press conference as Prime Minister and Suleiman were preparing the meet and threatened there will be an escalation in attacks on Israel if the government does not agree to Hamas's terms for a "calming" of the current violence.
