Harvard Medical School Dubai Center and University Hospital to Mark International Nurses Day with One-Day CPD Conference |

Dubai: 12 May 2008- Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) Institute for Postgraduate Education and Research in collaboration with the University Hospital, both members of Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center, will mark International Nurses Day with a one day conference to promote improved standards for nursing in the region.
Organized in association with Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a member of Tatweer, the continuing professional development (CPD) conference titled 'Committing to Nursing Excellence in Celebration of International Nurses Day' will be held at the Grand Hyatt on 16 May.
The conference will spotlight nursing professionals' commitment to best practices, while introducing models and approaches that underpin the delivery of finest patient care and professional excellence. Presenting case studies to facilitate learning and raising awareness, a community of nursing leaders will share best practices with participants including industry professionals, educators and clinicians from the UAE and the Gulf region. The CPD conference will grant 6.5 CNE/CEU (Continuing Nursing Education/Continuing Education Unit) credits to participating healthcare professionals.
Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chief Executive Officer, DHCC, said: "The conference in Dubai will coincide with the worldwide celebrations of International Nurses Week. As the world's most integrated center of excellence for healthcare, medical education and research, we affirm our commitment to enhancing the skills of all medical professionals in the region.
"Through the CPD conference, we aim to empower nursing professionals, offering them a platform to learn latest innovations in education and credentialing for strengthening the practice environment."
Dr. Robert L. Thurer, Chief Academic Officer of HMSDC, said: "This conference will prove to be a vital stimulus for participants as they become familiar with nursing organizational models that complement the current practice of nursing and patient care. It will also help identify approaches to enhance the professional practice environment in the region."
This CPD conference program organized in collaboration with HMSDC is approved and accredited by the Continuing Professional Development department at HMSDC. The CNE and CEU credits are also recognized by the Ministry of Health as well as Dubai and Abu Dhabi Health Authorities.
HMSDC is a joint initiative of Harvard Medical International (HMI) and DHCC. The continuing education programs are an integral part of its endeavour to develop DHCC into a centre of excellence for healthcare delivery, education and research.
