NZ Paralympians to wear Skins for Beijing

Paralympics New Zealand is pleased to announce that a three-year sponsorship agreement has been signed with Skins.

The Skins™ brand is synonymous with innovation in performance equipment and its compression garments are being used by the world’s finest athletes. It is therefore no surprise that thirty elite athletes selected to represent New Zealand at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games across seven sports: - Athletics, Boccia, Cycling, Powerlifting, Shooting, Swimming and Wheelchair Rugby - will be wearing the compression garments.

Fiona Allan, Chief Executive says, “Many of our athletes had requested that they be able to wear Skins to assist them in their preparation for, and recovery from, training and competition. We were therefore extremely keen to provide that opportunity.

“We are thrilled with the commitment from Skins and the relationship will allow our elite athletes access to state-of-the-art recovery strategies and support high performance on the international stage.”

David Watt, General Manager Brandex (Skins) sees this as an ideal time to be getting behind the New Zealand Paralympians with their build-up to the Beijing Paralympics. The team is a natural choice as a partner for Skins with their impressive record in previous World Championships and Paralympic Games, he said.

Skins will be the ‘compression garments of choice’ for all Paralympic New Zealand High Performance teams and will be worn by Paralympians to Beijing in September.
