Microsoft has more juice than integrity. EOM.
Microsoft can't negotiate for beans but they sure have power. How can anyone review such an embarassment in a day? In the long run Microsoft's failure to deal with Yahoo! could mark the beginning of their demise. But for now they've got money and the juice that goes with it.
Very possibly, Icahn has become a secondary spokesperson for Microsoft. If that's true, the new bid is 34.375, only 2.625 from the number the Yahoo! board wanted, 37. Bid and asked are getting closer and closer.
I'm a little disappointed the article didn't mention the number of newsletters that have beaten the buy-and-hold. Eight OF HOW MANY recommend Msft; zero OF HOW MANY recommend Yahoo at 27?
It's hard for me to see how Microsoft can walk away from the Internet, or, without Yahoo, can truly compete there.
Which brings us to the question regarding these newsletters records on Tech stocks, which are a little trickier to call than a MacDonald's or John Deere or Sears.
Good to see the company acting independently. There's a posse forming to try to drive them into Gates' hands at a bargain price, but the Yahoo! board is hanging tough. Good to see.
