Hi, I’m a security consultant and the advice I’m going to give you is difficult. Usually, I spend my time teaching people how to secure their data and passwords — I’m going to give you some tips on how to discover the password. Obviously, I don’t know your aunt but most people are terrible about keeping their passwords secure. Your aunt most likely used a password that was something she could easily remember (a pet’s name, child’s name, etc.) or it may be something she wrote down and kept near the computer. Look under the keyboard, around her desk, etc. Try thinking of her favorite things and imagine what sort of password she might have used. If none of that works, here’s another little secret: try to get access to the email account she used when setting up her Yahoo account. She should have a secondary address where her lost password can be emailed to. Then, use her screen name and begin the steps to change the password — one of the options will email her password to the secondary email account.

Good luck!

You can get a court order to have Yahoo open the account to you. They can’t do it without one, so other than guessing it, that is your only recourse.
