This is another update regarding the news on the victims of Cyclone Nargis in the state of Burma. By know, most of you probably know about Google's actions towards helping the Burmese
people deal better with the disaster. Besides making the general public aware of the extent of the damage Nargis left behind, Google also offers its users a number of ways in which they can help the Nargis victims.

The Cyclone that has hit the coast of Myanmar last weekend has been reported to have taken the lives of hundreds. The devastating Nargis also left most of the surviving locals' houses without their rooftops and powerlines. The extent of the disaster is incredible and can be seen by Google users, by means of the updated satellite imagery from the Google Earth application.

It appears that Google's efforts, along with other non-governmental organizations, have not been in vain and people are really making their contribution. Besides the "Support Victims" link, featured on Google's home page, people are also directed, by NGOs websites, to a Google Checkout page. This is where people get to donate whatever things they see fit, thus offering their support to the Myanmar victims.

According to a Hitwise Internet traffic chart, the Google Checkout page has experienced a considerable increase of visitors. The chart displays the UK Internet traffic for the Google Checkout webpage, which has increased over the last days. The increase comes to show how successful Google's appeal to humanitarian action was in the UK. It appears that people are really taking interest in what is happening in a place far from their reach.

Anyone else with an Internet access desiring to help the Burmese people can do so by one of the provided Google webpages. We will try to keep you informed with further news on the subject.
