Popular coach: If this keeps up, paparazzi soon will be following KU basketball coach Bill Self across the country. Self recently earned mention in the "Sightings" section of "Norm: Vegas Confidential" - a celebrity gossip column in the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
"Bill Self, head coach for the NCAA basketball champion Kansas Jayhawks, was congratulated at every turn after arriving on a flight Friday morning from Kansas City," Norm Clarke wrote in a column that also had tidbits on Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, Tony Romo, Ashley Olsen, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Mena Suvari, Dennis Miller and Oprah Winfrey.
Self was in Vegas two weekends ago to scout a pair of AAU Tournaments.
On Sunday, there was a Self sighting in the Lexington Herald Leader. Self played golf Thursday with coaches Billy Gillispie (Kentucky), Norm Roberts (St. John's) and Doc Sadler (Nebraska) at Valhalla course in Louisville, columnist Jerry Tipton wrote.
Self also attended Saturday's Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
