FES, Morocco, April 30 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues rallied for a win but three other seeded players lost Wednesday at the $145,000 Moroccan Grand Prix tennis tournament.

Medina Garrigues defeated Sesil Karatantcheva 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1, despite losing her serve six times. However, she broke Karatantcheva's serve eight times en route to advancing.

She goes next against Olga Savchuk, who recorded one of the three upsets Wednesday when she took out eighth-seeded Ekaterina Makarova in a tight 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.

One of the other quarterfinals Friday has Greta Am playing Petra Cetkovska, who both beat seeded players in second-round play. Am defeated third-seeded Tathiana Garbin 6-4, 7-5 while Savchuk upended fifth-seeded Timea Bacsinszky 6-1, 7-5.

Play Wednesday included the completion of the rain-delayed first round with second-seeded Gisela Dulko sweeping by Elena Camerin 6-1, 6-1 and fourth-seeded Aravane Rezai wining 6-2, 6-4 over Vania King.
