Credit Card Users Pay More At N.H. Gas Station

SALEM, N.H. (WBZ) ― A New Hampshire gas station is making customers pay extra if they use credit or debit cards to pay for fueling up.

Some gas stations are passing onto its customers the cost banks charge to process the charges.  Drivers using cash paid 6 cents less a gallon at the Super Petroleum Inc. station on Route 28 in Salem last week.

Other gas station owners are considering doing the same thing.

Rashid Sucar, owner of Oasis Gas and Mini Mart in Windham, told the Eagle Tribune he's one of them. He says he pays an average of about 7 cents a gallon when customers pay by credit or debit card. He says his profit margin is slim and paying the bank fees is shrinking it.
